  1. So, I basically came at this from the same standpoint as you – I’ve been hating on Doom and Madlib for a minute, and now I’m trying to lay that aside and give the album a chance.

That said, I’ve listened to it twice, and it ain’t the second coming.

And yo – anyone else think that maybe this relationship should’ve just ended after madvillainy or something? Maybe it was just something personal with me, I don’t know – but after Doom started on this extra geeky stones throw madlib ridiculousness I’ve lost interest.

  2. wow man, i got to say, you seriously sound jaded! I was at the madvillainy record release party in NYC and it stands as one of the two best hip hop shows i’ve ever seen.

i’m a madlib fan and an mf doom fan … i love a lot of the stuff they’ve done outside of madvillainy, but the two together are pure magic. Madvillainy stands as my favorite hip-hop album of this decade. The took the “formula” of modern rap and pretty much did the opposite of it.

I’ve been rocking the remix album. Yes, it’s a “remix” album which means it’s not a classic in itself, but pretty damn good.

  3. i guess i do sound a little jaded… my bad. for all my complaints i would say the show was one of the better hip hop shows ive aqttended as well, i just really didnt like the arrogant vibe that madlib gave off to be honest.

i agree though that they flipped the formulaic rap album into something more interesting, i guess my real complaint about the original album was that doom’s flow/voice began at that point to sound different from how it had on previous albums, he started having a more lethargical, gutteral sounding delivery.. lyrics are still bomb, but the delivery sounds like miles away from how it did on Op: Doomsday or even the Vik Vaughn and King Gheedorah joints.

I havent heard the remix album (presuming its not the Koushik one thats been around for a while) but i will have to peep.
